新しいブランドを探すのは僕の仕事でもあり、趣味でもあります。ポテンシャルのある若手デザイナーやブランドを世界各地から発掘するが楽しくて、いsつも刺激的に感じます。今回はブラジルから「アラギャルソン」というブランドをご紹介しタイト思います。実は、去年友達からサンパウロのヴィンテージショップでおしゃれなブランドが販売されている話を耳にしました。当時はリメイクされたヴィンテージのTシャツやハンドペイントされたデニムパンツとジャケットなどが多く並べてありました。一目惚れしてしまい即いくつかを購入してしまいました！
I will go to the end of the earth to track down a hot new fashion brand. I take delight in discovering new designers from across the globe before anyone else. It’s what I do. And so it is with A La Garçonne, a fabulous new discovery from the other side of the planet – Brazil! In all honestly, I discovered this brand last year when my friend whispered to me that there is a cool new brand located in an antique store in the artsy Pinheiros suburb of Sao Paolo. Back then, it was a cool collection of reworked vintage tees, hand-painted jeans with skulls and roses, and upcycled army camouflage jackets painted with lions or exotic parrots. I hunted it down and was instantly hooked.
先月、ブラジルを訪れる機会があり、ブランドは素晴らしい進化を遂げていました。ファビオ ソウザさんが２００９年にヴィンテージショップを立ち上げ、デザイナーである旦那さんのアレキサンドレ ヘルコヴィッチさんが、何年か前にヘッドデザイナーとして認定され、より魅力的なブランドへと進歩をしています。
Upon recently returning to Brazil, I discovered how much the brand has evolved. It’s still inside that fabulous antiques warehouse – Fabio Souza created the brand back in 2009 and his husband the celebrated Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch took over the design of the clothes a few years ago – but the collection is now quite incredible.
アレキサンドレ ヘルコヴィッチという名前を聞いたことある方は居ると思いますが、実は約10年前日に、日本でも注目されていた有名デザイナーであり、2000年代に、代官山で自分の店舗を持つほどの人気でした。今ではアラギャルソンのデザイナーとなり、ウィメンズと共にメンズのコレクションを発表しており、インパクトのあるコラボれションアイテムも発表しています。ユニバーサルスタジオやディキーズ、また今後はメリッサとのコラボレーションシューズなどを発表しており、スポーティーかつヴィンテージ調のコレクションを紹介しています。
By the way, if you recognise the name, it is because Alexandre Herchcovitch is famous in Japan for his namesake brand – it was super popular in japan in the early 2000s and he even had a store in Daikanyama around 10 years ago – but things have changed and he now is full-time designing A La Garçonne. With men’s and women’s collections, and dynamic collaborations with Universal Studios, Dickies and soon Melissa shoes, the new collection combines sportiness with the brand’s antique roots.
