去年の12月、タレント性溢れるフィンランド出身のシューデザイナーのMinna Parikkaが東京に来たんだ。新たなコレクションのインスピレーションを求めに、それとスパイラルホールで行われたフィンランド出身のアーティストの作品を集めた展示会へのアテンドも。ポップアーティストのJani Leinonenとのコラボレーションを果たし、“Boutique! Thinking About Fashion, Through Art”と題した展示会で設置された彼女のセクションは、とってもカラフル、ポップなブースで人々を魅了していたよ。
Back in December, one of my favourite creative minds Minna Parikka came to Tokyo to soak up some inspiration and to take part in an exhibition promoting Finnish artists held at the Spiral Building in Aoyama. Here, the Finnish shoemaker’s collaboration with Pop artist Jani Leinonen which starred in the exhibition called “Boutique! Thinking About Fashion, Through Art” was a kaleidoscope of colour and crazy fun.
シャンパンを楽しみながら、彼女のマジカルなイリュージョンアートワークを拝見。そこには見たことのあるアニメキャラクターがたくさん!! コーンフレークのキャラクターや、アメリカからやってきたキャラクターたちが勢ぞろい。そこにMinaa Parikkaのバニーイヤーモチーフや尻尾がついたカラフルなシューズが並べられ、そこはまさに彼女の頭の中のカラフルなイマジネーションがそのまま反映されたような世界観が広がっていたよ。
And as I looked through the magical optical illusion artwork (glass of champagne in my hand), filled with familiar animation from cornflakes and popular American culture, scattered with Minna Parikka’s pop coloured shoes with bunny ears and tails, as well as the collaboration cartoon heels, it made me wonder: what’s exactly is going on inside her mind? The answer is obvious – it’s the colourful world that surrounds her.
Minna Parikkaを知らない人でも、彼女のシューズを見たことがある人は結構いるんじゃないかな？うさぎの耳が特徴的な彼女のコレクションには寿司モチーフのサンダルやヒールも!! それはまるでファッション性の高いおもちゃのような夢広がるコレクションになってるんだ。そんな彼女のシューズはパリはコレットや、伊勢丹などメジャーなショップに置かれているから是非チェックしてほしい!! 彼女の独特な世界観が伝わるはず!!
In case you don’t know Minna Parikka, maybe you might recognize her shoes. Famous for her cute Bunny Sneaks and quirky sushi slides, this shoemaker is unconventional, fun and fashion-forward. And it’s this eye that has her shoes popping up in iconic stores such as Colette in Paris, as well as many stores here in Japan, including Isetan. Minna Parikka is all about colour and cuteness, which has in turn made her brand iconic.
そんな彼女のAW15は日本からインスピレーションを得たというより、日本の女の子が大好きな甘いスイーツ、ユニコーンやレインボーなどカラフルな要素が盛りだくさん。ピンクやミント、スパークルなどが彼女の手により上手い具合に混ざり合い、彼女の世界観がとてもよく伝わるコレクションになってるよ。刺繍や、バイカーブーツ、ユニコーンハイヒールはメタリックなウェービーヘアがとってもキュート!!
Chatting with her about her trip to Japan which has inspired her latest AW15 collection, Minna laughs and says there’s nothing very traditionally “Japanese” about it at all. It’s all about sweets and unicorns and rainbows – perfect for Japanese girls with a sweet tooth. Colours are a fun mix of pinks, mints and sprinkled with sparkles and embroidery, with everything from biker boots (in pink with embroidered rainbows) to unicorn high heels with metallic wavy hair.
