It’s no secret that Nicolas Ghesquiere is one of my all-time favourite fashion super-heroes. I loved his collaborative work with Marie-Amelie Sauvé at Balenciaga, and waited eagerly to see his first collection for Louis Vuitton last season.

実は2000年、Louis Vuitton初のパリのメンズショーでフロントロウに座らせてもらったんだ!!! 日本に初めて訪れたのもLouis Vuittonの東京でのショーに招待された事がきっかけ。そんなこんなで僕のクローゼットにはLouis Vuittonのアイテム達がたくさん!!(笑)
Louis Vuitton and me go way back. I was fortunate enough to be front row of the very first Louis Vuitton men’s fashion show in Paris back in 2000 (OMG!), and the very first time I ever came to Tokyo I was a guest of Louis Vuitton. I’ve been to numerous shows in Paris of course and I own perhaps too many bags and accessories from the brand.
だから僕にとってNicolasがLouis Vuittonと一体化してるのはとにかくビッグニュース!! Numero Tokyoのとっても素敵な編集長、あこさんからお誘いを頂いて新宿のストアで新しいコレクションを見る事が出来たんだ!! Thank you Ako-san!!
So for me, Nicolas taking over the brand was a big deal. Luckily for me, Ako-san, the fabulous editor-in-chief of Numero Tokyo, invited me to an exhibition in the Shinjuku store so I could take a look at the new collection close-up as well as see the new look for the revered brand. And everyone knows that Louis Vuitton always puts on the best parties!

インターネットやブラウン管で見るファッションショーから感じる事は難しい美しい洋服のディテール達。近くで見るとさらに分かるコレクションの美しさ。今回はそんなポイントが光る素敵なコレクションだったよ。ちょっとした60年代の雰囲気にも魅了されたね。
Sometimes when we see pictures on the Internet of fashion shows it’s hard to really appreciate the beauty of the actual garments and their details, which is what really impressed me about this collection. I also love the innovative approach to advertising and the retro 60s feel.

But what I really found amazing was the unique way you can walk back through history in a totally modern way; as well as a collection of vintage trunks, one of which bore my name.
This amazing vintage trunk was possibly owned by one of my relatives!
Here you can see the trunk belonged to a Mrs J Coates - same initials as my mum and me!
