最近平日に夜遊びをする事がめっきりなくなってしまった僕。今は仕事で大忙しのシーズン。だから遊びにいくときは慎重に行く場所と内容を重視するんだ。最近はすぐに疲れちゃうしね(笑)
Anyone who knows me knows that it’s hard to get me to go out, especially on a school night. Back in the day I used to go to the opening of an envelope, but now, with my business getting so busy, I have to be really selective about where I go and what I do. Also, I get sooooo tired of the same old thing.

僕の大の仲良し、とってもタレント性のある友達Przemek Sobocki(皆にはPちゃんと呼ばれているね!!)が彼のアートの展示会を開いたんだ。僕が知ってる中でもっとも優れているイラストレーターといっても過言ではない。“Crystals and Swans”というタイトルの展示会がBeams Vermeeristブティックで只今開催中!!
So it was so great to literally run out of the office and head down to the recent art exhibition of one of the dearest people I know. I love it that I have wonderful talented friends, and Przemek Sobocki (or P-chan as he is affectionately known) is the most amazing illustrator I know. He has his first showing in Japan in years, called “Crystals and Swans”, held at Beams Vermeerist boutique, set inside Beams International Gallery in Harajuku Tokyo.

彼の展示会の前、なかなか彼に会う機会がなかったから、彼がデザインしたとっても綺麗な白鳥がモチーフになったインビテーションをもらったときはとっても素敵なサプライズだったよ。彼は昔ベースにしていたロンドンで2005年にV&Aイラストレーションでアワードを受賞。今回の展示会の内容は、白鳥をベースに日本のエッセンスをプラス。Beams店内には美しく変貌を遂げた白鳥達があちこちに。鏡やもちろん壁にも!!
I didn’t really have much time to catch up with him before the exhibition to actually talk about it, so when I received a beautiful swan invite in the mail it was a beautiful surprise. What he has done is taken a very regal, British bird (P-chan used to live and work in London, where he won the V&A illustration award in 2005), and given it a chic japanese twist. Swans wrapped themselves around the display cabinets of beams, their heads peeking around corners, popping up in mirrors, and of course the walls.

それにたくさんの友達に会う事ができた楽しい夜だった。とってもリラックスした環境でとびっきりおいしいラムコークを楽しみながらの友達と過ごす時間はやっぱり格別だね。
It was also great to see a bunch of my friends, all in the same place at once for a change. And as the environment was really chilled (and there were fabulous rum and cokes involved kindly provided by Beams).
