Saeborg
Japanese artist Saeborg (half-human, half-cyborg) creates inflatable latex rubber suits for imagined characters and sets them in dreamlike rubber lands.
It is impossible to tell whether this is some kind of foreplay, or maybe a hint at the erotic stock of sex-shops or the cuteness of plastic toys for children. Is this a critique of our increasingly plastic environment or an insight into the industrial cruelty of the meat processing industry. Moreover, Saeborg stages the cute erotic horror of the Japanese pop-culture of bizarre tales in her art performances. Although our initial impression of her work might be that of alluding to excess, she sees it as forming free genders and sexuality.
